After I heard about this photo contest, I submitted a diptic image (i.e. 2 images placed together) of the Arch that I created for my photo class at Wash U. Through this image, I contrasted the touristy & vibrant St. Louis with the comparatively gloomy East St. Louis, which together make up St. Louis (unified under the Arch).
Months later, I was thrilled to find out that my image was one of the top 100 photos (out of >500 submissions) that was going to be featured at the Sheldon Art Galleries! My photo will also be included a photo book that highlights the top 100 photos from the competition. If you would like a copy of my work, it can also be purchased individually at the gallery.
The St. Louis at 250 exhibit officially opened yesterday, and I was incredibly humbled to see my work enlarged inside a wooden frame next to all the other amazing photos of St. Louis. Looking at these images helped me realize how beautiful St. Louis is. These photos are our testimonies of our gentle love for the city!
